#ManCrushMonday: Levi from Fangirl

Hey everyone! I’m going to be doing these new things (at least to my blog) every Monday and Wednesday where I pick my favorite book boys/girls and explain why they left such an impression on me! I hope y’all enjoy and let me know if you feel the same way! ;)

Back of the book blurb:

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.
Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan…
But for Catch, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.
Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fanfiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.
Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let it go. She doesn’t want to.
Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Catch she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend; a fiction-writing professor who thinks fanfiction is the end of the civilized world; a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words…and she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.
For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

When I was talking with my best friend on what kinds of posts I should do on my blog besides reviews and reactions, and he suggested I do #MCM and #WCW posts where I describe my favorite book boys and girls, Levi, from my favorite Rainbow Rowell book Fangirl, was the first book boy that came to mind.

Levi is this larger-than-life, ray of sunshine character. I was immediately obsessed with him the first scene he was in. There is just something about boys who are always so unashamedly happy and nice that draws me in. I’m not sure if it’s because I used to surround myself with such unhappy people that I started really appreciating people who are able to just be happy and nice all the time. The quote at the top is Cath speaking to Levi: “You give away nice like it doesn’t cost you anything.” He goes out of his way to be nice to everyone and it is so completely endearing.

I just love how from day one he cared for Cath. I understand how she felt when she didn’t know Levi had feelings for her because she thought he flirted with everyone and he didn’t realize he was doing it. I try to only surround myself with people who love life rather than hating it because I used to think it was cool to hate everything but now I realize how fucking annoying it is when people complain about literally everything. The main reason I love Levi is because I crave for a man like him to enter my life and make everyday as bright as it possibly can be.

Another reason I adore Levi is because he’s so laidback and just goes with the flow, but he’s also tough when he needs to be and isn’t wishy-washy when it comes to Cath. He has a plan when he needs to and doesn’t just ask, “What do you wanna do?” when they hang out. That is so important, to be honest. And while he’s good with a plan, he’s also good with it going off track if something happens to go wrong. He is spontaneous and a good improviser which is also extremely important. Especially with how lazy and uncaring guys are these days!

Levi is always my go-to book boyfriend when I need to believe in love again because he is so beautiful and happy and I love him and Cath together so much. I always love the couples where one is so happy and bright while the other is a bit broody and introverted. I love couples where they balance each other out. It’s so, so, so cute.

And all of that is why Levi is my #ManCrushMonday this week.

If I had to cast Levi for a movie, it would be:

Sam Claflin!

I think he would make a PRECIOUS Levi. Those dimples, that smile, and that hair?! YES. PLEASE.

Happy reading!

Love,
The Cosmic Reader
