PLL Tag + REVIEW: Stupid Love by Cindy Miles

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having a great day. First, a new video! Tonight is the A reveal on Pretty Little Liars so I went ahead and did a PLL tag video!! Hope you all enjoy!

Now, time for a review.

"I always was a sucker for heroes."

Back of the book blurb:

MEMORY
Casualties.
That’s how I refer to the guys who’ve had the bad fortune to fall for me. They only see long legs that they wish were wrapped around them, a cat-like smile, and the reckless abandon to take on any wild dare. It’s all a game to me. Show me a bridge, and I’ll leap over the side. Give me a car, and I’ll race it. Give me a heart, and I’ll break it. I always win. I even showed Death who was boss a long time ago.
Or so I thought.
Now, time is running out, and I’m losing fast…and big. I met someone. Jace Beaumont. He’s smart, and good, and I dream about spending days exploring the summit of his perfect lips. But, I’m a grenade. I know I should leave him be. I can’t.
JACE
Study, class, work, repeat. That’s all I have time for. At twenty-five years old, I have a bit more mileage on me than the average college freshman. But, that’s what happens when you spend your youth drinking, partying, and bagging girls like it’s a full-time job. Now, I have goals. There’s just one kink in my plans. Her name is Memory. She’s every guy’s dream girl. She’s intoxicating. She’s trouble. I want to stay away. I can’t.

 My rating:

ARC kindly provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I knew as soon as I started this book that it would be an emotional roller coaster. That prologue was intense. I was right, too. By the end of this book, I was sobbing. It was just so emotional and so beautiful and I am so glad this was the very first ARC I had ever received! It was such a great experience.

Memory was such an amazing character. She was so full of life and hilarious and beautiful and I loved her so much. I enjoyed her character so thoroughly; I did not want to let her go! I was sad when this book ended because going with her through her journey was such an incredible experience. There’s also something that’s just so beautiful about people who stay happy and full of life even when their circumstances aren’t the best.

Jace was also an incredible character, too. He was so mysterious and sensitive and sexy! His chapters were always so insightful and fun because we get to see things through his point of view and know just how he was feeling about Memory, which was really fun and interesting.

I absolutely loved how close the friend group was! I had always wanted friends that did everything together and had inside jokes and Sunday pancake dates. It was so precious and knowing how much they cared for each other was just… breathtaking. I loved reading about their shenanigans.

There were so many great scenes in this book. The scene where Jace quoted Titanic was so beautiful and ugh, I loved it. Cindy Miles is a great scene maker. I mean, the entire novel is just emotional anyway, just because of Memory’s condition.

There are a few problems I had with this book. Some of it is like writer things, but I feel weird saying them because I’m not the published author, am I? But this is my blog, so whatever!

Anyway, there was a lot of repetition or redundancy in this novel. The whole saying each other’s full names the entire novel was charming at first, but after awhile it just became annoying. Like, I get it. I know their names. I don’t know if it’s a Texan thing, but damn, it distracted the fuck out of me.

Also, with Memory and Jace texting—they kept saying they couldn’t get each other out of their minds. Again, we get it! You can’t stop thinking about each other. You don’t have to say it over and over again.

Basically, the repetition in this book got to me. Other than that, the book was so, so amazing and I am so thankful to have been sent this book! I definitely want to pick up the rest of this series, which includes Stupid Girl and Stupid Boy!

Make sure to buy Stupid Love, which comes out September 10 of this year!

Happy Reading!

Love,
The Cosmic Reader
