Back of the book blurb:

When Hanna Bergstrom receives a lecture from her overprotective brother about neglecting her social life and burying herself in grad school, she’s determined to tackle his implied assignment: get out, make friends, start dating. And who better to turn her into the sultry siren every man wants than her brother’s gorgeous best friend, Will Sumner, venture capitalist and unapologetic playboy?
Will takes risks for a living, but he’s skeptical about this challenge of Hanna’s…until the wild night his innocently seductive pupil tempts him into bed—and teaches him a thing or two about being with a woman he can’t forget. Now that Hanna’s discovered the power of her own sex appeal, it’s up to Will to prove he’s the only man she’ll ever need.

My rating:

Okay, get ready, because I am about TO FUCKING GUSH. I’m pretty sure I first picked up Christina Lauren’s Wild Seasons series first and then bought Beautiful Bastard and I think I started Beautiful Bastard first. Okay, sike, I just checked my Goodreads and I read the first two books in the Wild Seasons series before reading Beautiful Bastard. EITHER WAY, I fell in love with their writing INSTANTLY. I tore through every book they had SO quickly.

I don’t know why I never ordered Beautiful Player until now, especially because I bought Beautiful Secret, which is the newest and fourth book while Beautiful Player is the third one. I am so glad I did, though, because I ALWAYS adore these books.

Christina Lauren, who are two best friends who put their first names together to create their author name, are just so good at writing love stories and male characters and female characters and sex scenes and I will never ever get over how their books make me feel—and they make me want to have a love like these characters do. They teach me how people should make me feel when we have feelings for each other. Like Jandy Nelson said in I’ll Give You The Sun, “Meeting your soul mate is like walking into a house you've been in before - you will recognize the furniture, the pictures on the wall, the books on the shelves, the contents of drawers: You could find your way around in the dark if you had to.” That’s exactly how these characters feel when they meet each other, too, even if they only feel it subconsciously. And the way these characters fall in love makes me want to fall in love the same way. Basically, their stories make me crave a love that I can write about. And that makes me feel so amazing.

Hanna is probably my favorite character out of the four Beautiful Bastard novels. She is hilarious, outspoken, extremely blunt, and just all around amazing. I love girls who can joke and talk about anything. I like someone who is so open about being them, and just everything about them is so independent and amazing. That’s exactly who Hanna is and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a protagonist so much in my life.

Will was super steamy and sexy and god, the things I would do to that boy! Hanna is as lucky of a girl to have Will as Will is lucky to have Hanna! I also love how their couples always balance each other out and bring out the best in each other. Also, it’s the whole fantasy of taming the wild guy. And again, I love Hanna because she didn’t even want to tame Will, yet she did anyway.

Okay, so, I absolutely love Abbi Glines and she was my first new adult author and then I discovered Christina Lauren and then Colleen Hoover. And all three—four—of those are like the New Adult Queens. Just… Christina Lauren knows how to fucking write a goddamn sex scene. Like, their sex scenes are just so much more. Time seems to slow down and the reader just feels everything that the lovers are feeling, too, except the mind-blowing, earth-shattering orgasms of course… or maybe they are feeling that, too… Their scenes leave me breathless and wanting more. I’m one who has had quite a bit of meaningless sex and reading these just solidifies the fact that I want more. It makes me want to actually make love and if you would’ve brought up that term a year ago, I would’ve laughed in your face because “make love?” Are you fucking kidding me? But Christina Lauren’s novels always make me want to fall in love and feel how good everything can be when you’re with someone you actually want to be with.

Now that you’ve basically witnessed me waxing poetic about Christina Lauren, let’s wrap this shit show up. Beautiful Player was an incredible addition to the Beautiful Bastard series and it’s definitely my favorite out of the four. If you need a good smutty book or if you want to fall in love or both, this novel is for you.

Happy Reading.

Love,
The Cosmic Reader
