REVIEW: Palm South University Season 1 by Kandi Steiner

by - 11:32 AM

“The trick is learning that real friendships don’t have to be fought for.”

Back of the book blurb:

Drama. Lies. Sex.
Welcome to Palm South University.
The weather isn’t the only thing heating up in South Florida. At a school where fraternities and sororities don’t exactly play by the rules, relationships are bound to be tested. Parties and sex are definitely key ingredients in the Palm South recipe, but what happens when family issues, secret lives, and unrequited love get tossed in the mix?
Follow Cassie, Bear, Jess, Skyler, Erin, Ashlei, and Adam as they tackle college at a small, private beach town university. Written in television drama form, each episode of this serial will pull you deeper and deeper into the world of PSU.
Where the sun is hot and the clothes are scarce, anything can happen.

Well, hot damn. I never thought I’d see the day where a Kandi Steiner novel didn’t make me cry. Was it just as addicting, though? Yes. Honestly, Palm South University would be a great in-between novel for Kandi’s other books. Did A Love Letter to Whiskey rip your heart out? Just read PSU and it’ll lift your spirits right up… and maybe even your sex drive.

Palm South University: Welcome to your new guilty pleasure. Except you won’t feel any guilt for loving this drama-filled novel written like a television serial.

I received an ARC (even though it’s out now lol I SUCK AT EVERYTHING) of PSU Season 3, so I’m going to be doing a binge of the first two seasons. I’m already in the middle of PSU Season 2 and it’s delicious.

“College is about change, my parents have always told me. My sister said the same thing when she gave me my graduation gift. It’s about growing, finding who you are and who you’re not. It’s about daring to live differently than you ever have before.”

Like the blurb says, PSU follows Cassie, Bear, Jess, Skyler, Erin, Ashlei, and Adam as they navigate through the murky waters that is college.

You can just tell that Kandi is having fun writing these wonderful characters’ stories. And while PSU is quite different from what she normally writes, it still hits you just as hard. You will instantly care about each and every character. You will get mad at each and every character, yes, but at the end of the day, it’s because you love them. And what is a book without the characters doing the dumbest shit? NOT A GOOD ONE. And trust me, PSU is good.

I honestly wish I could go into detail about each and every character, but that’s just… a lot. So just take my word for it that they’re all SO FUCKING AMAZING.

“You could give me your keys, jump in my truck, and let me take you back to my place so I can cure you of your current situation.”

Holy hell. PSU is one of those books where you will need a cigarette after reading it. Kandi has produced some of the sexiest and steamiest sex scenes I have ever read. And I love Abbi Glines and Christina Lauren… so that’s saying something. And each time someone sleeps with someone they shouldn’t… well… it’s just hot as fuck, okay?

As you can tell, I really love it when Kandi lets loose! It’s so exciting.

“You’re going to notice in the next few years and probably for the rest of your life that some friends stay and some friends go.”

I really loved the nostalgic feeling that’s weaved through the entire novel. I’ve only been graduated from college for a little over a year, but I loved remembering how it felt to be on my own for the first time and all of the life lessons I learned while at college. And I got to relive that through this diverse cast of characters. It was also fun to live vicariously through them because I was not nearly as crazy as they are! (Although, I kind of wish I was.)

Once again, Kandi Steiner has gotten her claws into me. She never wants to let go, either, dammit. So, just beware… if you start PSU, trust me. You’ll be addicted. I’ll be posting reviews of Season 2 and Season 3 later this week/possibly next week.

Happy Reading!
Love,
The Wandereader
